My First Hours In Iceland

This is the Blue House B&B.

My plan landed at 11:45 PM Icelandic time that’s 7:45 PM EDT.  It was a chilly 50 degrees with light drizzle when we landed.  By the time I made through customs, retrieved by luggage and met my ride who took me to my bed and breakfast took almost 90 minutes.  By the time I got settled and turned off the light, the electric light that is, it was almost 2:00 AM Icelandic time.  Now I mentioned electric light because here it gets no darker than, I would say twilight which means I was happy that my room has a black shade which I pulled down and it kept most of the light out of my room.  Its a good thing since I’m not sure how light twilight actually is here since there was heavy cloud cover and drizzle when I arrived.

So as I sit here Im still tired from the stress of the last few days pulling everything together so I am going to go out for a walk and tour the neighborhood.  My hosts here at the Blue House Bed and Breakfast are fabulous and the proprietor, Zeno, spent an hour with me helping plan the things I want to see and there is a lot to see.  You could almost spend a week in this neighborhood which is called Seltjarnarnes.  Here is a link to what looks like an excellent town web site.

I’ll post some pictures of my walk later. © Louis M. Skypala 2014
